Bellingham High School teacher Jen Reidel was selected as a recipient of the 2024 Teacher of the Year by the American Lawyers Alliance, a nonprofit organization promoting an "understanding and appreciation of the law and the American legal system." 

In addition to her years in the classroom teaching Civics, Law and Society, AP Government, and US History, Jen has volunteered for 20 years in the Whatcom County Teen Court Program, has worked with the American Bar Association creating law-related education resources, and currently serves as a teacher advisory board member for Street Law, a law related education nonprofit. In the 2019-20 school year, she had a teacher in residence position at the Library of Congress creating and curating primary source materials for Civics teachers.

In April 2024, Bellingham High School sports medicine teacher Katie Owen received the Gary Hirst Instructor of the Year Award from the Washington Career + Technical Sports Medicine Association (WCTSMA). 

The Instructor of the Year Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the teaching of sports medicine students in and/or out of the classroom. This award recognizes the commitment of individuals to the profession of teaching sports medicine and to the advancement of career and technical educational standards that prepare the students for experiences outside the classroom by incorporating leadership, technical skill and academic rigor. 

Katie was recognized with the statewide honor at the WCTSMA Spring Symposium that featured 860 students and 54 schools.

The school partnered with @SmartTripsWC to chaperone and enjoy the benefits of the new routes with a group walk on Friday. Students were greeted with a shape-jump pathway, bubble machine, Dinger from the @bhambells and the chance to add a sticker to banners.
